01/27/2008 - It IS a Space Castle.

Me, Justin, and Mitchy D. discuss ActRaiser. Seriously. For real this time.

01/27/2008 - It IS a Space Castle.

Talk about it on the forum.

Honestly, and I mean this - this episode is kinda GOOD.

Personally, I always thought 128 kbps / 44 kHz stereo was overkill for a voice-dominated podcast, but your mileage may vary. In the interest of me not mixing up your podcast episodes with Fast Karate podcast episodes, I ask that you alter the filename scheme slightly. Maybe instead of 080127.mp3, you could call it Nerdish-080127.mp3.

Although my recently-built computer can play Crysis, not only was I never looking forward to the game having been completely nonplussed by Far Cry, the demo for Crysis sapped me of any desire to play the rest of the game. I bought Bioshock for the 360 since my old computer couldn't run it, and now I may as well play it on the PC instead. At this rate, Mass Effect will come out on the PC before I get around to it. Gears of War already has.

The main non-Super Nintendo game you need to play is Gunstar Heroes for the Genesis. Get on that, STAT. MitchyD's comments that "the box art is terrible!" for every single game mentioned in this show suggests that he's never seen them in person.

Although everyone including myself liked the original Actraiser the most, I think Actraiser 2 gets a bad rep because it no longer had the strategy element and your sprite was smaller. Still, the art design in that game was really good stuff, arguably even better than the first, especially with regards to the boss character designs. I don't think I ever played Soul Blazer, so I can't comment. I've got the Xbox SNES emulators and ROM sets, but I'm slightly annoyed that you have to do all the bizarre configuration stuff for it still. The PSP SNES emulation is a little easier to work with.

I wish there were more strategy-action hybrids. Hey Toei: make me a Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy game combined with battles that you have the option to manually play out like Dynasty Warriors.
